In 2012, the World Masters Orienteering Championships (WMOC), one of the biggest annual orienteering events worldwide, will take place in Germany for the first time. Thousands of Orienteers from all over the world are expected to come to Bad Harzburg to fight for the medals in their age classes.

The Bavarian Orienteering Tour is a WMOC Pre-Event in the week before WMOC 2012, in which the international visitors can experience Bavaria, one of the most famous parts of Germany, in a very special way. Although the tour program has mainly been concepted for the veterans, everyone is invited to take part at the event.

During the seven days, the participants will make a journey through Bavaria. They will be able to run orienteering events in forested terrains, park areas and beautiful historical city centers. There will be sightseeing possibilities in five of the most beautiful towns of Bavaria, with two of them being on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Orienteering in the morning, sightseeing in the afternoon - this is the concept of the Bavarian O-Tour. Additionally, there will be some cultural evening events in which the guests can enjoy the bavarian way of life. Starting in Munich, the Tour will proceed to Landshut and Regensburg. After Bamberg, host town of the Bavarian State Horticultural Show 2012, the town of Coburg will be the final location. After the event, the participants can proceed to WMOC in Bad Harzburg or travel back home.

Following the basic concept of the popular Tour O Swiss, the six organizing orienteering clubs want to show the beautiful landscape of our country to all visitors. "Orienteering meets History" is the slogan of the Bavarian O-Tour 2012: come and discover the beauty of Bavaria - not only by finding controls, but also by finding out interesting details of Bavarian history!
